Koikili Lertxundi

Koikili ( civil Koikili Lertxundi del Campo; born December 23, 1980 in Ochandiano, Basque Country ) is a Spanish footballer who plays for Liga Athletic Bilbao in the Spanish Primera since 2007.

Playing career

Koikili is probably the best example of a late starter. Until 2003, he played with CD Aurrera Vitoria, CA Osasuna B and the Gernika FC respectively in the Segunda División B, the third- highest division in Spain. After the descent Gernikas in the Tercera División fourth-rate, he moved to league rival SD Beasain, but returned after only one year to Gernika FC back where he remained, however, also only one year. In 2005 he moved back to the Segunda División then B to Sestao River.

Better late than never, followed at the age of 26 years in exchange for Athletic Bilbao in the Primera División, where he developed the same team regular, despite the large class difference. His first Premiership goal he scored in a 1-1 draw against Real Murcia.
