Koitere

Koitere is a 163.7 km ² large lake in the municipality of Ilomantsi in the Finnish countryside of northern Karelia. The lake lies at an altitude of 143.4 m. In the lake there are countless islands. The outflow of Koitere opens after a short distance into the Koitajoki, a tributary of the Pielisjoki. The Koitere belongs to the catchment area of ​​the south-west to Lake Pyhäselkä, which in turn is part of the Saimaa lake system.

On the north side is the Patvinsuo National Park.

Koitere Lacus, a methane lake on Saturn's moon Titan, was named after the Koitere.
