Koji Shimizu

Koji Shimizu (Japanese清水 康 次, Koji Shimizu, born October 17, 1969 in Hiroshima, Hiroshima Prefecture) is a former Japanese marathon runners.

In 1997, he won the Tokyo International Women's Marathon in 2:10:09 and came at the World Athletics Championships in Athens on the 58th Place. The following year he was third in the Lake Biwa Marathon with 2:09:57 for the first time under 2:10. In 1999 he qualified with a third place in Tokyo in 2:09:00 for the World Championships in Seville, where he finished seventh.

In 2000 he was eighth in Tokyo in 2001 and second in the Fukuoka Marathon. At the Asian Games in Busan in 2002 he won the silver medal. In 2003 he qualified as fourth in the Lake Biwa Marathon with his personal best of 2:08:28 for the World Championships in Paris / Saint- Denis, where he finished in 21st place.

Koji Shimizu is 1,76 m tall and weighs 53 kg. He is a graduate of Daitō - Bunka University. He is currently the athletic director at the athletics team of NTT West.
