Kolbein Falkeid

Kolbein Falkeid ( born December 19, 1933 Haugesund, Norway) is a Norwegian poet. He writes mainly alttagsnahe poetry in the modernist tradition. His choice of motifs ranging from the domestic Vestlands coast to Italy and Africa. His poems often express a global understanding and international solidarity.

Life and work

1962 closed Falkeid his studies in philosophy at the University of Oslo. Subsequently, he was from 1963 to 1966 professor at the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität in Münster. For many years Falkeid lecturer at the School Haugesund / Skeisvang Videregående Skole. He received a scholarship from the Norwegian 1973-74 General Scientific Research Council ( Norges Allmenvitenskaplige Forskningsråd ). Falkeid existed since the debut of the Norwegian publisher Cappelen JW out 25 fiction books that have been translated into 19 foreign languages. The author is since 1967 member of the Norwegian Writers' Association ( Den Norske Forfatterforening ). Since their existence is Falkeid lyricist for West Norwegian band Vamp. In 1998, he was the festival poet of the year during the Bergen International Festival ( Festspillene i Bergen ).
