Paal-Helge Haugen

Paal -Helge Haugen ( born April 26, 1945 in Valle) is a Norwegian writer of poetry and drama went public in particular. His most famous work, however, is the novel Anne; he became a source of commonly used in Scandinavian literature generic ' point Roman ".

Life and work

Paal -Helge Haugen studied from 1964 to 1970 in Oslo medicine. 1965 to 1967 he was on the editorial board of the literary magazine profile. 1973 to 1973 he studied in the U.S. film and theater studies. He was at times employees at Norwegian television and taught from 1973 to 1978 Creative Writing for screenwriters.

Haugen dealt first with haiku and Chinese poetry and worked as a translator. He was inspired by the English-language modernism, among others, TS Eliot. He strives to connect literature with music and art and so many works of poetry created in collaboration with visual artists and musicians.

He co-authored with illustrators numerous children 's books. He tries to get remains of older Norwegian language and writes texts with religious reference, for example, some oratorios. His interest also applies to the musical drama; for some operas, he wrote the libretti; The Maid of Norway was awarded in 2001.

In his poetry there is often the metaphor pair of light and darkness, the very busy him. Anne

Haugen's best known work is his novel Anne, which was published in 1968. In a kind of prose poetry is the story of a girl who dies at the beginning of the 20th century, tuberculosis, tells, in brief text sections - show actions and situations - apparently without context.
