Kondratów

Kondratov ( German Konrad Waldau ) is a village in the municipality Mecinka in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship in south-western Poland.

Geographical Location

Kondratov is located in the western part of Lower Silesia, in what is called Sudetenvorland and in the language area of the Silesian mountain. The small street village is located in a wide valley surrounded by up to 480 meters ascending Jawor 's mountains between Złotoryja ( Goldberg ) and Jawor ( Jawor ) in the northwest and east and up to 724 meters ascending Kaczawskie Mountains (Polish Kaczawskie ) in the southwest. The Wilsbach, arising from the source at the foot of Jawor 's mountains in the east, through the town to the northwest.

The next largest cities of Kondratov, the former county town Złotoryja the northwest, Legnica ( Liegnitz German ) in the Northeast, Jawor the east and Zielon Góra Cieplice Śląskie -Zdrój in the southwest. In the area around Kondratov predominant volcanic rock. In the 13th century was mined in the nearby forest of village Gold.

The village Kondratov extends in a vast valley of Wilsbaches. For the most part are the houses and courtyards that are forfeited partially today, scattered apart.

History

The story Kondratóws dates back to the year 1263 as the settlement was called Conradeswald. The center of the municipality Konrad Waldau is the Catholic Church, whose building is built in the Gothic style and dates from the 13th century. The building is considered the oldest surviving building in the village. The village was divided until the expulsion of the German population in 1946, in Oberndorf, Central Village and Lower Village. In Konrad Waldau most of the 717 inhabitants ( 1939) employment in agriculture went. Although not particularly large farms in the village were present, the farmers were in the village as very wealthy. By the end of the Second World War, the town was the seat of the Konrad Waldau originating from a Huguenot family Counts Ponzet. In the immediate vicinity of the baroque palace was located, the associated farm. After 1945 remained of the castle and manor only a ruin left. Today Kondratov is a village with about 290 inhabitants.

Personalities

In the district of low- village was located from 1930 to 1946 the home of the sculptor and graphic artist Walter Ibscher ( 1926-2011 ). There, his parents operated a small forge. Ibscher lived until his death in Nuremberg.
