Kondyor Massif

The Kondjor massif (Russian Кондёр ) is an almost perfectly circular mountain range with about 8 km in diameter up to 1387 m altitude in the eastern part of the Aldanhochlandes near the Pacific coast of Russia. It is located on the territory of Khabarovsk Krai, but nearest major town is about 570 km in the northwest direction away Yakutsk, capital of the Republic of Sakha ( Yakutia).

Formation

When Kondjor massif is contrary to original hypotheses neither a volcanic crater ( caldera ) nor a caused by meteorite impact crater, but an extrusion underlying material with deposits of rare ores, which arose originally several thousand meters below the surface and in the course of about a million years ago at the surface was visible by being exposed by erosion.

Minerals

It is one of the richest platinum deposits of Russia. Further, there are gold, silver, osmium, and an extraordinary variety of crystals.
