Konrad Friedrich Bauer

Konrad Friedrich Bauer ( born December 9, 1903 in Hamburg, † March 17 1970 in Schönberg ) was a German typographer and teacher.

Life

Konrad Friedrich Bauer studied art history in Frankfurt and Marburg and finished his studies in 1926 with a doctorate. From 1928 he works in the Bauer foundry in Frankfurt am Main, whose artistic director he was from 1948 to 1968. During this time, his collaboration with Walter tree, the head of the graphic studios of the foundry, with whom he developed numerous writings from 1954 to 1963 began.

Between 1952 and 1964, Bauer was chairman of the jury of the competition " The most beautiful books of Germany," the Foundation's Arts in Frankfurt am Main. From 1947/48 he also taught at the University of Mainz, the reference book, font and Printing.
