Konrad Hirsch

Konrad Emanuel Nikolaus Hirsch ( born May 19, 1900 in Eidskog, Norway, † November 17, 1924 in Surte, Sweden) was a Swedish football and Bandyspieler. He played in 1924 two caps for the Swedish national football team and won with the national selection for the Olympic Games in the same year the bronze medal.

Career

Hirsch played football for GAIS Gothenburg. With the club he first played in the series Svenska and recommended for the Swedish national team. On May 18, 1924, he came to his debut in the National Jersey, when he ran aground in a 5-1 victory over the Polish national selection on the side of players like Albin Dahl, Sven Rydell and the other newcomers of GAIS Torsten Svensson. At the Olympic Games in the same year he belonged to the squad of the national selection, but did not belong to the root formation, which reached the semi-finals and there failed to Switzerland. Only the first match for third place against the Dutch national team on June 8, he was in the starting lineup and came to his second international appearance. As the game ended 1-1 in a draw, a replay was needed. In the 3-1 victory of Sweden in the second meeting with the Dutch on the following day, which meant winning the bronze medal, deer but not participated. After Hirsch had qualified with GAIS for the 1924 newly founded Allsvenskan, he came there to use. However, he managed only nine games in the Swedish Elite series before he died at the age of only 24 years.

In addition to his career as a football player himself Hirsch operated as Bandyspieler. As Filip Johansson, Gunnar Soderbom and other Gothenburg football player, he did this at Surte IS.
