Konstantin Krause

Konstantin Krause ( born October 8, 1967 in Bad Langensalza ) is a former German long jumper.

In 1985 he became Junior Champion of the GDR, but he was denied the following year to participate in the IAAF World Junior Championships in Athens because of the West contacts his family. Since he refused to be Unofficial employees of the Ministry of State Security, his athletic career came to a halt, and he began a study of civil engineering.

In the fall of 1989 he committed over the open Hungarian border to flee the republic; after the fall of the Berlin Wall followed his Hungarian girlfriend and later wife Emese. After he had been recruited by Klaus Steilmann for the TV 01 Watt Scheid, he sat next to his training as an industrial clerk continued his sports career.

In 1992 he won the silver medal at the IAAF European Indoor Championships in Genoa. At the Olympic Games in Barcelona in 1992 and at the World Athletics Championships in Stuttgart in 1993, 1995 in Gothenburg and in 1999 in Seville he left in qualifying.

1998 and 1999 he became German champion, 1995 and 2000 runner-up. In the hall he was six times national champion (1995-1997, 1999-2001) and twice runner-up (1992, 1998).

Konstantin Krause started until 1993 for the TV 01 Watt Scheid, then for TSV Erfurt and from 1997 for the LG Ohra Hörsel. He now lives with his wife and three children in Erfurt and teaches at a private hotel school.
