Korean Olympic Committee

The Korean Olympic Committee (abbreviated KOC) is the National Olympic Committee of South Korea. It was founded in 1946 and organized the Olympic movement in South Korea. It cares about the participation in the Olympic Games and the organization of sporting events. The current President of the KOC is Park Yong -sung. His seat has the KOC in the Olympic Center in Seoul Olympic Park.

History

The Korean Olympic Committee was founded in 1946. In the 41st General Assembly of the International Olympic Committee in 1947, the KOC was officially recognized by the IOC and therefore incorporated in the Olympic movement. The first Olympic Winter Games, where South Korea took part, was the Olympic Winter Games in 1948 in St. Moritz. The first summer games in which South Korean participants participated, were the Summer Olympic Games in London in 1948. Since then, took the KOC at all Olympic Games in part, with the exception of the Olympic Winter Games in Oslo in 1952 and the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow. Despite the Korean War, it took part in Helsinki at the Summer Olympics in 1952.

The KOC took the 1986 Asian Games and the Summer Olympic Games in 1988, both of which were organized by the Seoul Olympic Organizing Committee, to Seoul. The alignment of these major events increased the popularity of a variety of sports in South Korea as well as the international reputation of the Korean Olympic Committee. The reputation is also based on the sporting achievements of the Korean team at the Olympic Games from 1984 to 1988, she reached seven times the top 10 of the national rankings. The KOC has national sponsorship agreements with the National Federation of Fisheries, Fuerza Sports, Green Hwajae Insurance, Global Tour and Choseon Pharm & Trading. In addition, the KOC participates in the income of the TOP program of the IOC.
