Korgfjelltunnel

The Korgfjelltunnel is a einröhriger road tunnel between Knutli in the community Vefsn and Korgen in the municipality of Hemnes in the Norwegian county of Nordland (county ). This tunnel during the European Route 6 is 8533 m long and the longest tunnel in this street. He replaced the narrow and winding route over the Korgfjellet and is about four kilometers shorter than this. The old road is still passable at least in summer (2012 ). The main reason to build this tunnel, were the wintry difficulties for heavy traffic. They often led to closures of the road.
