Kornel Makuszyński

Kornel Makuszyński ( born January 8, 1884 in Stry, † July 31, 1953 in Zakopane ) was a Polish poet, theater critic and writer.

Life

At the age of 14 years Makuszyński wrote his first poems. He studied philology at the University of Lviv and Paris. Since 1918 he lived in Warsaw since 1945 in Zakopane. Makuszyński became a member of the Polish Academy of Literature ( Polska Akademia Literatury ) and has received numerous awards.

Several works Makuszyńskis were filmed, including the novels Awantura o Basie ( 1959 by Maria Kaniewska ) and O dwóch takich, co ukradli księżyc (1962 by Jan Batory ). The series of children's books Przygody Koziołka Matołka was filmed in the form of animated cartoons; the set w Pacanowie kozy Kuja ( in Pacanów be shod with goat hooves ) gained in Poland a major celebrity.

In Zakopane is a museum, which is dedicated Kornel Makuszyński.
