Kostas Konstantinidis

Konstantinos " Kostas " Konstantinidis (Greek Κωνσταντίνος " Κώστας " Κωνσταντινίδης, born August 31, 1972 in Schorndorf ) is a Greek football player.

Biography

Childhood and youth

As a teenager, he began his footballing first steps in domestic VfL Schorndorf and then in the youth team of VfB Stuttgart. In its 12th year the family Konstantinidis emigrated to Greece.

Professional career

Before the start of season 1994 /95 applicable to many positions defender moved within the Greek League club OFI Crete to Crete. After two seasons, he moved within the following season, 1996/97 in January 1997 to the then reigning Greek champions Panathinaikos Athens. In the following season he was runner-up with Panathinaikos and in his last season for this club in 1998/99 once more third parties. For an amount of 1.3 million euros, he then moved to Germany in the Bundesliga Hertha BSC. He played the next two seasons and came to a total of 41 missions. In the following season, 2001/ 02 Konstantinidis moved into the English Premier League Bolton Wanderers. After his brief stint there, he returned, however, the conclusion of this season back to Berlin. Shortly after the start of the 2002/03 season he signed with the then - newly promoted Bundesliga Hannover 96 for 200,000 euros and played in his two seasons there in 43 league games. He changed thereafter before the beginning of the 2004/05 season in the 2nd Bundesliga 1 FC Cologne relegated. There he was able to contribute only a small part to a rebirth due to injury problems. Despite current contract until the end of the 2005/06 season, his contract was dissolved at the 1 FC Cologne with immediate effect on 22 August 2005. Konstantinidis is now playing again at OFI Crete, where he has signed a contract until the end of the current season.

National

Konstantinidis has completed 38 caps for the Greek national team in his career, where he managed a goal. At a World Cup or European Championship he has never participated with Greece.
