Kotsifali

Kotsifali (Greek Κοτσιφάλι ) is a red variety. It is the eighth most common red wine grape in Greece. Recommended is their cultivation on the island of Crete. The area under vines was the end of the 1990s, about 1150 hectares. The early maturing variety with the thick-skinned, hard and deep purple grapes produces a mild, alcohol- rich, flavorful and low-acid wines, which are mainly used for blending with the tanninreicheren variety Mandilaria. The wines are of good quality.
