Koungou
Koungou is a town with 26 488 inhabitants (as of August 21, 2012 ) in the French overseas territory of Mayotte.
Geography
The community Koungou lies on the northeastern edge of the main island of Mayotte. In addition to the main town Koungou the villages Longoni, kangani, Trévani, Majicavo - Koropa and Majicavo - Lamir form the municipality.
History
The community was founded by the French colonizers in the 19th century.
