Kováčovce

Kováčovce (Hungarian Szécsénykovácsi, after 1945 Ipoly Kovácsi ) is a small town in the south of Slovakia, with 371 inhabitants (as at 31 December 2011). It belongs to Okres Veľký Krtíš, a circle of the parent district Banskobystrický kraj.

Geography

The municipality is located in the basin Ipeľská kotlina, a lower part of the Juhoslovenská kotlina, on a loop of the border river Ipeľ (Hungarian Ipoly ), as the river changes its direction from south to west. Kováčovce is eight kilometers from the Hungarian Szécsény and 23 kilometers from Velky Krtíš.

Administratively divided the community in community Kováčovce parts and Peťov (1898 amalgamated, Hungarian Pető ).

History

The town was first mentioned in 1295 as Koachy writing. The name derives from the fact that the first inhabitants were forged ( Slow Kováč = ung Kovács ), from. Kováčovce manor belonged to the nearby town of Szécsény, hence the Hungarian predicate. The inhabitants were mainly engaged in farming, vegetable growing and viticulture, which is the case today.

Until 1919, the village in County Neograd the Kingdom of Hungary belonged to Czechoslovakia and came afterwards. 1938-45 he was on the basis of the First Vienna Award again in Hungary.

The Slovakian place Fiľakovské Kováče contributed to 1927 also the official name Kováčovce.
