Kozō Andō

Kozo Ando (Japanese安藤 宏 三, Ando Kozo; born June 20, 1940 in Ōgaki; † October 8, 2003 in Tokyo ) was a Japanese Kenjutsu (8th Dan Kyoshi ) and professor at Waseda University.

At age 13, he began to train kendo at the middle school in Yokkaichi. As a student he was captain of the Kendōclubs in Waseda University. At 27, he passed the exam for 7th Dan Kendo. He was until 2003 the University of Shihan. In addition, he was a leading member of various committees of the All Japan Kendo Federation ( Zen Nihon Kendo Renmei ) and the All Japan Students Kendo Federation ( Zen Nihon Kendo Renmei Gakusei ).

Ando published several technical papers for kendo in Japanese language as well - along with Kotaro Oshima - which is considered the standard work in the translation of Ichiko Mandt today in the German-speaking " textbook of Japanese swordsmanship ."

In Germany, he was active for many years as national coach. He often visited Hamburg and Shihan was the kendo dojo Hamburg in SVE.

Kozo Ando died of a losing on the return trip from Germany to Japan stroke at a hospital in Tokyo.
