Krahule

Krahule ( until 1927 slovak also " Blajfus " - 1927-1946 " blue foot "; German blue-footed, blue footed, Hungarian Kékellő - until 1888 blue-footed ) is a municipality north of the city Kremnica in central Slovakia.

Geography

Krahule located directly above Kremnitz on an approximately 880 -meter-high terrace in the mountains Kremnitz ( Kremnicke Hills ).

History

It was first mentioned in writing in 1331 as a blue-footed and was created as Waldhufendorf of German miners. From 1895 there was a state clapper school in town. From 1980 to 1992, the church was a part of Kremnica. Today the church is a winter sport and hiking area.

Population

In the census in 2001 indicated 35 of the then 144 inhabitants to be Carpathian German. This Krahule was the only locality in Slovakia, in which the proportion of this minority exceed the 20 percent threshold. Thus Krahule / blue foot is considered to be the only Slovak- German village.

Therefore, in German Krahule second official language is Slovak next.

Religion

In the last survey reported 89 people to be Roman Catholic. There was also a large Protestant minority (32 people). A person designated as a Hussite; 21 inhabitants claimed to be non-denominational.

Traffic

The nearest train station is Kremnicke Bane on the railway line from Vrutky to Zvolen.
