Keramim (Hebrew כְּרָמִים, German: Vineyards ) is a kibbutz in Israel.

Location

The nearly ten square kilometers comprehensive site is located about 15 kilometers north of Beersheba on the edge of the Negev desert on a hill at 440 meters above sea level. It is located one kilometer off the road from Beersheba to Hebron and Jerusalem at the height of the village Meitar. In the immediate vicinity is the border with the West Bank, and the safety of the residents plays a special role.

Facts and Figures

Keramim was founded in 1981 by Hashomer Hatzair, the Urban Group and currently has about 75 members and therefore referred to often as the " smallest kibbutz of Israel at all ." Keramim is the plural of the Hebrew expression for the vineyard.

Life

Today vineyards, a poultry farm, a guest house catering service and a common restaurant - operation with the neighboring Kibbutz Lahav represent the main sources of income corner shows facilities except the restaurant are located on the kibbutz grounds. The restaurant is located three kilometers south of the Schoket junction, the junction of the main road from Beersheba to Hebron ( in North-South direction ), and of Lehawim to Arad ( in east-west direction).

The center of Keramim forms a two-story building where the dining room and the associated kitchen and a common room are housed. Open twice a week for the essentials a small food and drug store. There are also three leisure facilities: a horse barn with riding arenas, a soccer field and a paintball facility.
