Kramnik, Poland

Kramnik is a village in northeastern Poland, in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, located on the eastern edge of the Rominter Heath. It belongs to the municipality ( gmina ) Dubeninki ( Dubeningken ).

The village belonged before 1945 not to East Prussia, but was just across the border on Polish territory.

The population was 1945 in Poland, (mostly ) Polish-speaking Germans, and Mazury. At this time Kramnik pointed to about 20 yards. During the Second World War Kramnik was partially destroyed. The fleeing German population was burning in part from their farms themselves. The number of remaining Germans remained very low.

In the years 1975 to 1988 Kramnik was part of the Suwałki Voivodeship.
