Crane and Crane ( Bulgarian Крън ) is a village in Bulgaria.

Location

Crane is located in the center of the country, on the southern slopes of the Balkan Mountains in the town of Kazanlak in the district of Stara Zagora. Crane is located about 7 km from the municipal center of Kazanlak.

History

Crane is on the edge of the Valley of the Thracian Kings. Nearby is the former Thracian capital Seuthopolis.

The story of today's crane is closely linked to the eponymous medieval city and fortress, the remains of which are seen above the present village. The fort was in the Second Bulgarian Kingdom of importance. They protect the road from Thrace, which led over the passes of the Balkan Mountains to the Bulgarian capital Tarnovo. In the 12th century it became part of the autonomous Principality Despotat Crane and family of Tsar Asen Mitso. In the 12th century crane was taken in the course of the Bulgarian Civil War of Constantine Tich Asen, Tsar and the Despotate was handed over to his son, the future Tsar Smilez ( 1292-98 ).

The late 13th century, early 14th century, the possessions of Smilez by his successor Todor Svetoslav were conquered. The family of Smilez, his brothers ( and Radoslaw Wojsil ), his wife and his son Ivan Smilez then fled to Byzantium. As despot of Crane 's uncle Todor Svetoslav, Eltimir now was used.

1302 support the Byzantine Emperor Andronikos II militarily and financially the Sebastocrator Radoslaw, brother of Smilez to make his claim on the Despotate law. Radoslaw was defeated by Eltimir, captured and blinded by order of the Tsar. 1305 tried to gain autonomy Eltimir, but was beaten by Todor Svetoslav. The areas of Despotats were directly subordinated to the Bulgarian tsar.

Probably fell crane in 1387 even before the conquest Tarnowos in 1393 in the hands of the Ottoman Turks. After the fall of the crane, the city was destroyed, including the fortress. As a result, some Turkish families settled (probably Derwendschi ) in the valley below the former settlement of which were guarding the nearby pass.

After the liberation of Bulgaria crane belonged until 1885 to the autonomous Ottoman province of Eastern Rumelia. Only in the course of the Unification of Bulgaria crane was part of the Bulgarian Principality.

To 21 December 1906, the place was called Hasat.

In crane is the only Bulgarian factory for processing of diamonds.
