The diesel locomotive ML 2200 C'C ' was a six-axle variant of the V 200 series, which the manufacturer Krauss -Maffei for the Yugoslav State Railways ( Jugoslovenske Železnice short JŽ ) has designed.

The JŽ bought three copies, which were there in the beginning, later filed under D 66 761.

Formation

1955 undertook the German Federal Railways together with the company Krauss -Maffei with the V 200 005 a test and Vorführreise in Turkey, Greece and Yugoslavia. For the sake of JŽ at the V was awakened 200, bought in 1956 three locomotives. However, you could be on the Yugoslav routes an axle load of 16 t shall not exceed. As a result, created Krauss-Maffei ML 2200 C'C ' as six-axle version of the V 200 was with two three axle bogies reduce the axle load and distributed the total weight of the locomotive at six instead of four axes. Also, a more powerful cooling system than the V 200 was installed. The top speed was 120 km / h The factory numbers of the three locomotives denominated 18368-18370. Machines were all light gray - painted blue. Krauss -Maffei presented the JŽ D 66-001 at the Hannover Fair in the spring of 1957. In May of the same year the transfer was made to Yugoslavia.

Operation and remain in Yugoslavia

After short-term use in regular service the locomotives long time came before the "Blue train ", the special train government of President Josip Broz Tito used. The locomotives were already wearing on delivery name: D66 -001 Dinara, was named D66 -002 and D66 -003 Kozara Sutjeska. The names were written in silver letters on the side walls. Mid-1980s, the Krauss -Maffei locomotives for the government special train by four EMD JT22CW -2 were replaced. The depot in Subotica, the markets then the locomotives in regular service until 1991. Even in 1998 the locomotives were spotted in a dilapidated condition in Subotica, in 2007 in Topčider. They are considered as exhibits of the local railway museum. The fourth ML 2200 C'C '

More orders came not from Yugoslavia. It lacked the financial resources. Nevertheless presented Krauss-Maffei in September 1957, built on its own account ML 2200 C'C ' finished, the structure was also painted light gray and blue. This was on the front sides of the logo and the lettering KRAUSS MAFFEI - A.-G. on the side walls. Their factory number was 18 416 This was tested from 22 September to 2 October 1957 the Semmering Railway in Austria. For this, put the Federal Railroad a track recording vehicle available, which was used on the trips always behind the locomotive. It regularly scheduled passenger trains and freight trains were transported to 612 t. For all trains of schedule could be maintained despite the obstacles, which brought the electrification of the line at that time with him. It had to be repeatedly stopped and started up because of temporary single-track sections in the slopes. Findings from these trips contributed to the development of the Krauss-Maffei ML 4000 C'C ' a.

ML 3000 C'C '

In subsequent test drives on the Black Forest Railway one came in October 1957 to the conclusion that the maximum speed of the locomotive was not sufficient. This prompted the company Krauss-Maffei for the conversion of the locomotive. The reconstruction lasted from October 1957 to May 1958. Locomotive received after the change the volume label ML 3000 C'C '. It was repainted in cream white and red with two white Absetzstreifen to the vehicle frame. The machine was tested in July 1958 on the Black Forest Railway, later on the Mittenwaldbahn, the Allgäu railway and turn on the Austrian Semmering Railway. Also found from July 15 to September 27, 1960 Test runs in Hungary. The locomotive was in this period that the name M 61 2001. From 1 January 1963, the German Federal Railroad leased the locomotive. The DB led the locomotive under the name V 300 001, but let her outward appearances unchanged. She came to the Federal Railroad Experimental Bureau to Minden. The purchase of the locomotive took place on 17 April 1964. Thereafter, a repair at AW Nürnberg joined, where they received the same gray - red color as the V 200. It was used initially in the express and freight service from Bw Hamm. From 1 January 1968, the locomotive was called 230001-0. From 7 August 1970, she went in the service of Bw Hamburg- Altona. It carried daily express trains on the march train to Westerland. On August 26, 1975, she was retired. The locomotive was then parked in the repair shop Nuremberg. In 1977 she was sold to the Italian locomotive dealer Bulfone in Udine. During tests it was able to convince through their tension, but due to its length it was not suitable for all branch lines. After about a year stay, the machine was again brought the end of 1978 in a freight train back to Germany after a purchase contract in Italy was canceled for the locomotive. In 1980 the locomotive was scrapped at the company Layritz in Penzberg.

Technology

The frame was welded. The locomotive body was carried out as in the V 200 in the load-bearing construction. In the engine room, the two engines were each over the bogies. The drive went through a flow transmission, which was arranged behind the respective bogie towards Lokmitte, to the final drives above the axles. The space between the engines, the addition units and the cooling unit were arranged, which has been enlarged compared to the V 200. The length over the buffers was increased from 18,500 mm to 20,270 mm. In the ML 3000 C'C ' were more powerful engines of the type MD 12 V 538 TB 10 the company Maybach engine with original 1350 hp each is used, their performance could be improved by higher boost pressure and charge air cooling to 1500 HP each.
