Kremnické Bane

Kremnicke Bane ( to 1948 Slovak " Piargy " - to 1927 " Piarg "; German Johannesberg, Hungarian Jánoshegy - older even perk or mountain ) is a small town in central Slovakia Kraj Banská Bystrica.

The municipality is located 4 km north of the city Kremnica on a pass between regions Hron and Turcianska in the Kremnitz mountains, on the main road 65 between Žiar nad Hronom and Martin.

The place was first mentioned in 1361 as Villa Johannis, part of the city Kremnica and was originally a German village. From 1980 to 1992 he was a district of Kremnica.

There are some local mining structures (eg a historic aqueduct ); still there is a small church of St. John (13th century), which belongs also to the possible centers of Europe.

In the 2001 census declared themselves of 250 inhabitants 88.4 % as Slovaks, 10.40 % and 0.40 % as German as Czechs. The dominant denomination was Roman Catholic 79.6 %.
