Kristján Þór Júlíusson

Kristján Þór Júlíusson ( born July 15, 1957 in Akureyri ) is an Icelandic politician of the Independence Party. Since 2007 he is a member of the Icelandic parliament Althingi and since 2013 Minister of Health in the Cabinet Sigmundur Davíð Gunnlaugsson.

1986 Kristján Þór Júlíusson Mayor of Dalvik, where he had grown up, and remained in that office until 1994, when he moved to Isafjordur. In Isafjordur he then officiated also as mayor, this until 1997, and thereafter from 1998 to 2007 in Akureyri. He is credited in Akureyri, the increasing success of the Independence Party, where the Progress Party dominated for decades. From 1998 to 2006 was Kristján before a coalition of the Independence Party and the Progressive Party, but the Independence Party was formed after a coalition with the Alliance. In 2007, he resigned as mayor of Akureyri and successfully ran for a seat in Althingi.
