Etymology

The name of the creek Kroll was due to the shape of its inland delta probably in reference to the term " Krull ", which originally designated a fan-shaped hairstyle; or to the name " rollers " for a fan-shaped ruched kind of towels and hoods.

However, the Kroll Bach was apparently a long time a nameless waters. This is suggested by, among others, the name of a before 1700 incurred by the riverside row settlement, which was only referred to as " pond water"; and even in 1828, the former a cadastral map located at Kroll Bachstraße with the simple term " waterway " from. The name of the water body as " Krull water " is being used for the first time in a map from 1805 ( see figure).
