The Kronach is about eight kilometers long river in the Upper Franconian district Kronach which arises from the confluence of Kremnitz and Grümpel. He was first mentioned in the 15th century under the name of Cranach.

Course

The Kronach formed by the confluence of Kremnitz and Grümpel south of Wilhelm Thal. They first flowing south through the towns of Steinberg and friezes. From there it flows in a southwesterly direction through Doerfles to Kronach where they left opens into the Haßlach after a total of eight kilometers.

Headwaters

The Kremnitz originates northeast of Reichenbach and flows through the places and Geschwend Gifting until they united after about 17.6 kilometers south of Wilhelmsthal with the Grümpel.

The Grümpel rises south of the municipality Tschirn and flows to approximately 12.5 kilometers through Effelter and Wilhelm Thal; south of Wilhelm Thal joins the Kremnitz to Kronach.
