Krośnice, Lower Silesian Voivodeship

Krośnice ( German Kraschnitz ) is a village and seat of the municipality in the powiat Milicki, in Lower Silesia, Poland. It is located 15 kilometers northwest of Twardogóra ( Festenberg ) on the edge of Milicz pond area.

History

Kraschnitz was in the 14th, first mentioned century. It was the seat of a property rule, which was in 1399 owned by Bartosz Chwalibóg. 1743 acquired Anna Christiane Sophie Countess of Promnitz the rule, it was followed by the Counts of Reichenbach. 1785 was Heinrich Graf von Reichenbach- Goschütz build a new castle. 1845 bought Adalbert Graf von der Recke- Volmerstein Kraschnitz and left in the same year to rebuild the castle. In 1863 he handed over to his son Leopold von der Recke - Volmerstein possession, who had to make alterations to the castle again in 1864.

Kraschnitz was from 1816 to 1945 part of the Silesian district Militsch and heard since the end of World War II to Poland. The castle is now the seat of the municipal administration.

Medical and nursing home

1860 founded Adalbert von der Recke - Volmerstein in Kraschnitz a Samaritan Medal pin for disabled and sick children. First, the nurses were trained by deaconesses from Neuendettelsau in Franconia. Later he built on the model of the institution in the Bethel Deaconess House Kraschnitz. With the beginning of World War II, the pen also took over the care of war invalids. The Silesian Bethel called hospitals and nursing facility existed in this form by 20 January 1945 and was evacuated and closed for the approaching front.

Today the organization as a Regional Hospital for Neuropsychiatry ( Wojewódzki Szpital Neuropsychiatrii w Krośnicach ) is utilized.

The municipality is located in the wooded area south of Bartsch ( Barycz ) and comprises 178.73 km ² with a population of 7,941 ( 2005).
