Krugersdorp Game Reserve

The Krugersdorp Game Reserve ( Afrikaans: Krugersdorp Wildtuin ) is a 1500 hectare game reserve in Krugersdorp, Gauteng ( South Africa). It is located about 30 kilometers west of Johannesburg.

The reserve is located partly on an old mine site. First and foremost, there is here the landscape of grassland with shrubs and small trees. In the north of the reserve there are small ponds with reeds. On the site live 30 species of mammals, including four of the so-called "Big Five". However, the lions live in a separate 100 -acre enclosure, which can be done by car. Furthermore, one can observe, among other giraffe, zebra, springbok and oryx here. In an old quarry is the walk-in aviary in which, among other things, to weaver birds.

The reserve can be explored by car. All roads are paved. But there are also horse safaris. On the site there is a campground and a lodge.
