Krystyna Drohojowska

Krystyna ( Krzysia ) Drohojowska (later Kettling of Elgin ) is a fictional character of the historical epic Pan Henryk Sienkiewicz Wołodyjowski of. She is a beautiful orphan who marries the Scots hate Ling- Kettling of Elgin.

In Jerzy Hoffman's 1969 film adaptation Barbara is played by Barbara Brylska.

Life history

Krystyna is an orphan and in the care of Stolnik Makowiecki. In 1668, she comes along with Barbara Jeziorkowska to Warsaw, where he meets Michał Wołodyjowski. She falls and becomes engaged to him. She accepts his proposal of marriage, although their feelings are strictly platonic for him. Soon, however, she also meets on hatred Ling- Kettling of Elgin, Wołodyjowski 's friend. Krystyna and Kettling fall in love quickly, but since she is already engaged, both can not be together. She decides, therefore, to enter the convent, but Wołodyjowski are Krystyna freely to his friend, after he learned of their love for one another, because he wants you both to be happy.

After they marry, Krystyna and Kettling live in Courland and have a son. In 1672 Kettling goes Kamjanez - Podilskyj, which is occupied by the Ottomans. Krystyna accompanied him there. After the city surrendered, Kettling refuses his surrender and blown up along with his friend Michał Wołodyjowski into the air.

Character description

Krystyna is a young and very pretty girl. She is tall and slender, has black hair, big blue eyes and a light skin color. She is a shy and passive, but honorable person. When she realized her feelings for Kettling, she feels guilty. It prefers rather to become a nun rather than marry the unloved Wołodyjowski. At the end of the novel she is very brave when she decides Kettling not to rely on, even during the battle against the Ottomans.
