Krzeszyce

Krzeszyce ( German Kriescht ) is a village and seat of the rural community in Poland. It belongs to the powiat Sulecinski in the Lubusz Voivodeship.

History

The name Kriescht is traced back to a knight named Crezislaus, who lived there in the 12th century. Around the year 1354 was one of the men Krissewis Uchtenhagen zu Sonnenburg. In 1410 Margrave Jobst left the village Kresuz the diocese of Lebus. 1427 changed the village Krisitz with Sonnenburg to the Order of St. John.

Near Kriescht opened in 1772 at the Heinrich channel. It should serve to accelerate the water drainage of the Warta River in flood. 1836/1840 of the Wissmann channel is built with the same goal. The National Highway 114 from Kuestrin to Schwerin ( Warta ) and on to Posen 1829/1834 renewed.
