History

The Elector of Mainz, Albrecht of Brandenburg in 1525 was built the well house at Hechelsgraben from which the source water was passed to the Aschaffenburg castle. The construction of the castle Johannesburg in the years 1605 to 1614 brought the extension of the line with it. Wooden pipes were replaced with clay pipes. The water line was partially to 1939 in operation. The attached at the Brunnenstube electoral coat of arms of Albrecht of 1525 is so badly damaged that a new preparation had to be made .

The well house was covered in the 1960s by the dumping of construction waste. When she was found again in the '90s, sticking only a small piece of the well-house from the ground. The whole environment was overgrown with bushes; the system as such no longer recognizable. After the clearing of the vegetation on the site, the soil was removed. The reconstruction of the well house and the construction of the shelter for the found line elements was followed by the system design in 2002. All original functions was returned to the building. The two rear walls, dams, ground and right door jambs are original parts and preserved as such in original condition. The downhill sandstone pillars and the front cover plate were newly built.

Also available within the Kühruhgraben even manholes and pipes of the former Büchelberg water pipe. This aqueduct was built in the second half of the 19th century, but made even before the turn of the century TT.
