Kunstverein Arnsberg

The Kunstverein Arnsberg is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting contemporary art in the city of Arnsberg, Sauerland region and its dedicated to.

History

The Kunstverein Arnsberg was founded in the fall of 1987 a private initiative with the aim to create a platform for the encounter with the international contemporary art within the region. In addition to changing individual and group exhibitions and selected annually Jahresgaben the club offers its members accompanying lectures, shared studio visits and excursions. The Kunstverein Arnsberg is a member of the Association of German art associations ( ADKV ). The Foundation for Art, Culture and Social Affairs of the Sparda- Bank West supported the club in 2010 with € 50,000 because it is locally, regionally and internationally an institution of the art scene. In 2013 the Art Association was nominated as part of the Art Cologne for the German Kunstverein price.

Building

The spacious rooms of the Kunstverein located on the first floor of a classic town house at the central Neumarkt, one built according to plans by Schinkel space, whose basic structure is almost preserved. The listed building itself was built around 1820 for the judicial magistrate Franz Friedrich Bernhard Höynck. Formerly belonged to the house is a large garden to the garden cottage forms part of a Grade II listed.

The second exhibition of the Art Association uses the postmodern light house in the courtyard of the monastery Wedinghausen. In collaboration with the Cultural Office of the association uses the striking building since 2009 for spatial and multimedia projects. Often this has been developed specifically for the exhibition.
