Kurnool ( Telugu: కర్నూలు Karnūlu [ lu ː kʌrnu ], also Karnul ) is a city in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It has around 425,000 inhabitants ( 2011 census ) and is the administrative seat of the district of Kurnool.

Kurnool the capital of the former state of Andhra was (not Andhra Pradesh ), in 1953 removed from the State Madras. The original name Kandenaolu the over 2000 year old city has been changed in its takeover by the British in " Kurnool ".
