Kurnool district

Kurnool ( Telugu: కర్నూల్ జిల్లా, Urdu: کرنول ضلع ) is a district in the state of Andhra Pradesh in India. Capital of the district is Karnul.

History and Origins

The Kurnool District was formerly part of Andhra State and came up with this 1956 to the new state of Andhra Pradesh. He lost in 1970 a part of its territory to the newly created district Prakasam.

Geography

The district lies to the west of Andhra Pradesh. It is to the west by the state of Karnataka, surrounded in the north by the district Mahbubnagar, Prakasam district in the east of and south of the districts of YSR ( Kadapa to 2010 ) and Anantapur.
