Kurt Peters

Kurt Gustav Karl Peters ( born August 17, 1897 in Vienna Atzgersdorf, † May 23, 1978 ) was an Austrian chemist.

His field was the fuel technology, physical chemistry and catalytic reactions as well as the separation and purification of rare gases and hydrocarbons.

Life

According to the Austrian military service, he studied from 1918 to 1921 chemistry at the Technische Hochschule Wien ( Vienna Technical University, now Technical University of Vienna). In 1923 he earned his doctorate at the University of Berlin with Walther Nernst. After the subsequent work as an assistant ( among others Fritz Paneth ) he was from 1928 to 1937 head of department at the Kaiser Wilhelm Institute for Coal Research. In 1937 he joined the industry and worked in the Department of Higher compression tests of IG Colors under Matthias Pier in the area of ​​catalyst development.

In 1949 he received an appointment as professor at the Chair of ordinary fuels at the Technical University of Vienna.
