Kurtamysh (town)
Kurtamysch (Russian Куртамыш ) is a city in the Kurgan Oblast (Russia) with 17,099 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010 ).
Geography
The city is located east of the Urals, in the southwest of the West Siberian Plain, approximately 80 km southwest of Oblasthauptstadt Kurgan on Kurtamysch, a left tributary of the Tobol. The climate is continental.
The city is the administrative center of the Kurtamysch Rajons same name.
History
Kurtamysch was created in 1745 as a fortified settlement on the eponymous river. In 1762 the place was already ( слобода Куртамышская; sloboda denotes a trade settlement ) as Kurtamyschskaja sloboda mentioned. The term has its origin probably in a Turkic-speaking people's names. In 1956 the site of a town.

Culture, Education and sights
In Kurtamysch there is a by Nikolai Tomin (1886-1924), a native of nearby commander of the Red Army in the Russian Civil War, named local museum.
Economy
In the resort construction industry as well as light and food industry exist. Nearby agriculture (mainly wheat, sheep, cattle ) is operated.
