Kuusjoki

Kuusjoki [ ku ː sjɔki ] is a former municipality in southwestern Finland. At the beginning of 2009, it was incorporated into the town of Salo.

Kuusjoki, 20 km north of the center of Salo in the landscape Varsinais- Suomi. After Turku is 70 km, in the capital, Helsinki, 130 km away. The municipality covered an area of 122.73 km ². To Kuusjoki included the villages Hämäläistenkylä, Impola, Kanunki, Kurkela, Kuttila, Kuusjoenperä, Pappila, Raatala and Tiskarla. In the former municipality is the lake Nummijärvi, which is famous for its crystal clear water. Kuusjoki last had 1,724 inhabitants. The community was monolingual Finnish speakers.

Kuusjoki was from 1822 a chapel community of the parish Uskela. The municipality was created in 1865 Kuusjoki connected with the separation of the management of the rural communities of the church administration. The chapel community was, however, assumed Pertteli 1884 and raised in 1913 into an independent parish. The beginning of 2009 Kuusjoki was incorporated along with the eight municipalities Halikko, Kiikala, Kisko, Muurla, Perniö, Pertteli, Särkisalo and Suomusjärvi to Salo.
