Muurla

Muurla [ mu ː rlɑ ] is a former municipality in southwestern Finland. In early 2009 it was incorporated into the town of Salo.

Muurla located 12 km east of the center of Salo in landscape Varsinais- Suomi. The highway like a developed state road 1 of Turku (63 miles west) in the Helsinki capital (102 km east) performs Muurla. The community Muurla had an area of ​​82.05 km ². For the landscape in the former municipality typically are steep cliffs and the intervening fertile plains that are used for agriculture. In the municipality of Muurla there are seven lakes. Muurla is known for its glass factory, the factory outlet attracts many tourists. Other attractions include the wooden church from 1836, the local history museum of Muurla, the mill of Fiulmaakari, a Bronze Age grave and the workshop of painter Viljo Hurme.

Muurla was released in 1919 as a separate municipality from Uskela. At the beginning of 2009, the municipality was incorporated along with Halikko, Kiikala, Kisko, Kuusjoki, Perniö, Pertteli, Särkisalo and Suomusjärvi to Salo.
