KV48 Tomb of Amenemope
KV48 (King 's Valley no 48 - grave number 48) in the Valley of the Kings is one vizier Amenemope, the (ca. 1428-1397 BC ) held under Amenhotep II in the 18th Dynasty.
Architecture
The grave consists of a 6 m deep shaft, at the end of which an approximately 8.43 m × 4.69 m wide and 2 m high chamber is located. This is undecorated and was robbed.
Grave goods
The chamber fragments of a black, marked with yellow inscriptions were coffin. In addition, there were a rough chair and pottery shards, it was magical bricks and some shabtis, which bear the name of the vizier and head of the city Amenemope, also called pairi. This was obviously the grave owner. The remains of a mummy certainly belong to him.
The complex of the tomb
The grave chamber of Amenemope is undecorated. This may not be surprising on, since most private chambers are undecorated grave in the New Kingdom. Amenemope had in Thebes, a decorated chapel ( TT29 ) in his cult was completed. As the highest official, he enjoyed the right to be buried in the Valley of the Kings. The spatial separation of the actual grave chamber and Totenkultkappelle is repeatedly attested in this period.
