Kwamena Bartels

Kwamina Bartels ( born October 27, 1947 Agona Swedru ) is a Ghanaian politician and lawyer. In the administration of President John Agyekum Kufuor, he served as Minister of Information and National Orientation (Minister for Information & National Orientation) to July 2007, and is now as Minister to the Interior Ministry since August 2007 as a successor of Albert Kan - Dapaah ago.

Training

Bartels was born in Agona Sewdru in the Central Region. He attended 1961-1968 first the Nungua Secondary School and later the Mfantsipim School, where he also his GCE A-level took off. Career

Bartels worked as an administrative secretary in 1971, the Ministry of Agriculture in Ghana. In 1973 he moved to Ghana Food Distribution Corporation ( GFDC ) in the post of Secretary. The political career of Bartels began in 1969 as secretary of the Progress Party (PP ) at the University of Ghana. In 1992, Bartels was the candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP ) in the Agona West Constituency. Because of the boycott of the NPP in the elections of 1992, Bartels scored no parliamentary seat.

Bartels was a minister for the development of the private sector in the first term of President John Agyekum Kufuor and Minister of Information and National Orientation in the second term of office between 2005 and July 2007.
