The Queis at Trzebow

The Queis (Polish Kwisa ) is a river in south-western Poland. It rises in several source streams at high Iserkamm on the northeast slope of Wysoka Kopa, the highest mountain in the Jizera Mountains, which unite in the valley at the Ludwig Baude at the Sudetenstraße. The Queis traverses the cities Świaradów Zdrój (Bad Flinsberg ), Mirsk (Peace Mountain ), Gryfów Slaski ( Greiffenberg ) Leśna ( Marklissa ), Luban ( Luban ) and Nowogrodziec ( Naumburg am Queis ) and ends after 127 kilometers in the city Żelisław (Silver ) in the municipality Małomice ( Mallmitz ) in the river Bober.

For centuries the Queis formed at about 100 kilometers, the border between Upper Lusatia and Silesia, until 1815 a part of Upper Lusatia fell to Prussia and the province of Silesia was slammed. 1945 was the land east of the Neisse Rivers to Poland. On Queis the castle Czocha are ( Czocha ) and the Kliczków Castle ( Kliczków ).

Since the first third of the 20th century, the river is dammed for flood protection in the reservoirs gold dream and Marklissa.
