Kyrie (song)

Kyrie is a song by Mr. Mister from 1985, that of Richard Page, Steve George (music) and John Long ( text ) was written. It was released in November 1985 first on the album Welcome to the Real World.

Emergence and text

The song was written during a tour with Adam Ant and composed. John Lang has worked as a copywriter for the band. The chorus is:

Kyrie eleison means " Lord, have mercy ." It comes from the Greek and is part of the liturgical rites, both in Eastern and in Western Christianity. According Pages statements he was skeptical at first, the Christian text that Lang had written to sing, because he wanted to make no "religious statement ". In part, led the unfamiliar in the English language and in the pop field words to misinterpretations.

Kyrie was released as a single worldwide in December 1985, and from there it became a number -one hit in countries such as the United States, Canada and Norway.
