La Chute River

La Chute (French for "waterfall" ) is the 5.6 km -long outflow of Lake George to Lake Champlain in Essex County of the U.S. state of New York. He overcomes a height difference of 68 m.

The river and its surrounding areas were historically of military - strategic importance, as it was an important portage between the British-controlled Hudson River Valley and the French- controlled Saint Lawrence River area. The Fort Ticonderoga is located near its confluence with the Lake Champlain.

The settlement Ticonderoga is at its river. There is also the waterfall Carillon Falls.
