La Clayette

La Clayette is a municipality with 1829 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in eastern France, in the department of Saône -et -Loire, in Burgundy; it belongs to the administrative district Charolles and the District of La Clayette whose capital it is.

Geography

The city is located in brionnais. It is located 85 km north of Lyon, 50 km west of Macon and 25 kilometers south of Paray- le -Monial. Neighboring communities of La Clayette are Curbigny, Varennes -sous -Dun, La Chapelle- sous -Dun and Baudemont.

The river runs along the southern edge Sornin of the city and flows near Pouilly- sous- Charlieu in the Loire.

History

The town was founded in 1435 by the family Chantemerle.

With the regional station La Clayette - Baudemont the city has a direct rail link with Lyon ( 1:20 ) and Nevers (2h).

The city is connected through the department of roads D985 and D987 to the road network.

The nearest international airport is Lyon Saint -Exupéry.
