Curbigny

Curbigny is a commune with 316 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Saône -et -Loire in the Burgundy region. It belongs to the Local Government Association Pays clayettois.

Geography

History

Charles I de Blanche Fort, marquis de Créquy (around 1575-1638 ) made ​​in 1620 in the hamlet of La Bazolle build a castle. It remained in the family until 1748. Then Comte Gilbert de Drée bought the castle. In 1769 he was raised to the Marquis and La Bazolle was renamed after his name in Drée. 1793 Curbigny had 360 inhabitants and received in the course of the French Revolution ( 1789-1799 ) the status of a municipality. In 1801 it received the right to local self-government.

Culture and sights

The Drée castle was built in the 17th century. 1837 acquired the Comtesse Tournon- Simiane the castle.
