Colombier-en-Brionnais

Colombier -en- brionnais is a commune with 307 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Saône -et -Loire in the Burgundy region. It belongs to the canton of La Clayette and the Local Government Association Pays clayettois.

Geography

Colombier -en- brionnais located in brionnais, 35 kilometers south of Montceau -les -Mines and 26 kilometers southwest of Cluny, surrounded by the neighboring communities Ouroux -sous -le- Bois -Sainte- Marie, Bois -Sainte -Marie and Ozolles.

History

The name was first documented in the Latin, as Columbarium. Columbarium means as well as the French word Colombier, pigeon house '. The origin of the name is unknown, but there are still some pigeon houses on the farms of the neighborhood.

1793 received Colombier -en- brionnais in the wake of the French Revolution ( 1789-1799 ) under the name Colombier the status of a municipality and in 1801 it received the right to local self-government.
