La Coronilla is a seaside resort in Uruguay.

Geography

Location

It is located in the 5th sector of the Department of Rocha in southeastern Uruguay. La Corronilla is located about 314 km from the capital Montevideo on the Atlantic coast. 25 km northeast is the Brazilian- Uruguayan border at the town of Chuy. A few kilometers south of Punta del Diablo is located. The coast of La Coronilla are offshore Islas de La Coronilla, a small archipelago.

At La Coronilla store salt, magnesia, potassium sulphate and gypsum.

History

On November 13, 1951 La Coronilla was classified in the " pueblo " category by the Law No. 11,763.

Infrastructure

West leads in a north-south direction over the Ruta 9 at La Coronilla that hits south of the village on the Ruta 14.

Population

As Population 2011 510 persons were registered in the census, of which 255 are male and 255 female. The number of inhabitants, however, varies depending on the season.
