Labasa FC

Labasa FC is a Fijian football club from Labasa, the largest city on the second largest island of Fiji, Vanua Levu. The stadium of the club is the Subrail Park in Labasa. The jerseys are made of red and white striped shirts, red shorts and red neck.

History

A regional football competition there was in Labasa since 1938. Participants were different clubs from different ethnic groups from Labasa. As the national football association was founded in 1938, Labasa was not a founding member, as the city was too far away from the central island of Viti Levu. It was not until 1942, under President Harold B. Gibson, became the Labasa Soccer Association member of the Football Association of Fiji, the Fiji Indian Football Association.

Labasa was at first a fringe of football development of Fiji. They played several games against other teams of Viti Levu, to 1969, the Inter- District Championship ( IDC) held in Labasa. Football quickly became popular in Labasa and in the years 1972, 1973 and 1978 the team reached the second place in each of the IDC. 1992 succeeded the first title in the IDC, which could be repeated in 1994.
