Lady Cynthia Mosley

Lady Cynthia Blanche Curzon ( born August 23, 1898 Kedleston Hall in Derby, † May 16 1933 in London) was a British nobleman and politician of the Labour Party.

Life

Cynthia Blanche, called Cimmie, the second daughter of three children of British politician and Viceroy of India George Curzon was, 1st Marquess Curzon of Kedleston of ( 1859-1925 ) and his first wife, the US- American Mary Victoria Head ( 1870 to 1906 ). She attended the prestigious Swiss boarding school Le Rosey.

On May 11, 1920 Lady Cynthia married in London the then Conservative politician Sir Oswald Mosley Ernald, 6th Baronet ( 1896-1980 ). The wedding was at that time the social event of the year, traveled to the guests from many European royal families. Her father had to be convinced of the suitability Mosley as a husband, as he suspected Mosley, mainly to seek the marriage for the sake of social advancement and because of the high expected inheritance. His fears were confirmed later. From the joint compound has three children were born:

  • Vivien Elizabeth ( born February 25, 1921) ∞ 1949 Sir Desmond Francis Forbes Adam ( 1926-1958 in the car accident )
  • Nicholas ( * June 25, 1923 ), 3rd Baron Ravensdale
  • Michael ( born April 25, 1932)

In 1924, Lady Mosley joined the Labour Party and was elected Member of Parliament for Stoke -on-Trent. Convinced of the inability of the Labour Party, her husband came into effect on February 28, 1931 from from this and started the following day, the New Party, who also joined them. The New Party took over as a result more and more political content of the emerging fascism in Europe. As a 1931 national elections were held again, the New Party was able to win a single seat. After the defeat Lady Mosley supported her husband in his fascist politics until her untimely death. She died during surgery from the effects of peritonitis.

Trivia

During their marriage, her husband had a long affair with her younger sister Alexandra Naldera, as well as with her stepmother Grace Curzon, Marchioness Curzon of Kedleston of. Before her marriage to Oswald Mosley her other sister, Mary Irene was his mistress. After her early death married Oswald Mosley his former lover Diana Mitford, wife of brewery heir Bryan Walter Guinness, on 6 October 1936 in Berlin. In addition to the witnesses and the registrar only Adolf Hitler and Joseph Goebbels were present.
